Applications

Woven components for products people use every day.

Explore common applications across apparel, bags, equipment and packaging. The right component depends on the design, construction and performance requirements of the finished product.

Assorted colors of nylon webbing
Materials in context

Choose the component around its use.

Webbing, elastic and binding are selected with the finished product, sewing method and operating environment in mind. Share your design to discuss an appropriate construction.

By product application

Start with the job the trim has to do.

01

Bags & luggage

Shoulder straps, handles, reinforcement webbing, binding and branded trims. Specify load path, attachment method, width, hand feel and appearance. Explore woven webbing and binding tape.

02

Apparel & uniforms

Elastic waistbands, garment binding, woven logos and decorative trims. Confirm stretch and recovery, skin contact, laundering and colorfastness needs. Explore elastic and logo tape.

03

Sports & outdoor

Elastic and webbing details for active products. Define intended loads, environmental exposure, abrasion points and applicable test methods. Explore webbing and elastic.

04

Footwear & accessories

Laces, loops, binding and identity trims can combine function with visual detail. Share product drawings, sewing details and color references. Explore binding tape and woven trim.

05

Packaging & logistics

Webbing can support bundling, closure or handling tasks. Confirm the exact load, tie-down method and applicable safety requirements; do not infer a rated capacity. Explore woven webbing.

06

Home & upholstery

Binding and woven trims can finish seams and edges. Discuss substrate thickness, sewing equipment, cleaning conditions and desired hand feel. Explore binding tape.

From concept to specification

Three examples of a clearer request.

Backpack shoulder strap

Identify strap width, preferred fiber, adjustment hardware, sewn attachment and expected wear points. Request evaluation of the complete stitched assembly, not just the strip.

Elastic waistband

Share relaxed dimensions, the intended extension in wear, pattern placement and laundering requirements. Compare the feel and recovery of samples sewn into the garment.

Bag edge binding

Send the substrate and seam cross section, supplied tape width, finished visible width, fold and color. Test sewing through straight edges, curves and changes in thickness.

Design review checklist

Bring the context that drives performance.

  • Finished product type and intended user
  • Component location, attachment method and load direction
  • Expected wear, wash, UV, moisture or temperature exposure
  • Contact with skin, food or other regulated uses, if relevant
  • Any safety, flammability, chemical or labeling requirements
  • Physical reference sample or technical drawing
Do not use a component for lifting, fall protection, vehicle restraint or other life-safety applications without specific engineering validation, documented test results and applicable certification.
